Why have a well woman scan?

The Well Woman Pelvic Scan is designed to give you an overall picture of your reproductive health. Whether you’re experiencing symptoms, planning ahead, or simply looking for reassurance, this appointment provides a careful assessment of the uterus (womb), ovaries and pelvis to identify any concerns and offer clarity.

Performed by one of our qualified sonographers with diagnostic scanning experience, the scan is carried out in a calm, private setting with time to talk through your history, your goals, and any symptoms you may have. We’ll explain what we’re looking at as we go, and you’ll receive a clear summary of findings and your next steps.

This pelvic ultrasound can help with the detection or exclusion of common gynaecological conditions, including:

Fibroids

Ovarian cysts

Polycystic ovaries (PCO / appearances suggestive of PCOS)

Pelvic inflammatory disease (PID)

If anything is identified that requires follow-up, we will guide you on the most appropriate next step — which may include a GP or specialist referral, additional tests, or a follow-up scan depending on the finding.
